Earlier, after dinner in downtown, some people and I were on the way to Clairemont, when we were driving through an intersection on a green light, suddenly a BMW runs its red light and hits us straight on back left door (I didn’t hear any braking from him). My friend tried to drive out of the way before impact, but it was too late. I was in the middle back seat when the side airbags deployed and my ears were numbed. The lucky thing was that none of us were seriously hurt, even though my neck still feels sketched. My friend who took the impact for everyone else in the back went to the hospital and was put on muscle relaxants, but he should be fine. My neck still feels a bit stiff and sore right now, so I’ll get it checked out tomorrow.
Shit happens, and the driver and his wife tried to bullshit the cop, telling him that we were drunk or something, even though it was a simple mistake in driving he made. We found out the guy’s a doctor and since he’s got a brand new BMW (still with dealer plates on), he’s probably going to get his lawyer on us. But we’ve got all the evidence against him, including the car computer’s automatically calling the police at moment of impact, which we can match to the city’s street light schedules. The rest of the night was pretty shitty, since the cops left us in the middle of the rain in downtown and the taxi driver we found after 20 minutes of getting soaked drove in circles to charge us extra money. My neck still feels like shit and the car is likely totaled.
At the end of the night, it doesn’t matter everything sucked and my neck still feels like shit. We’re alive and not too badly hurt, there’s not much more we can expect. I feel like the luckiest person in the world tonight.
